November meeting minutes
Upcoming Campus Activities
Read and Feed – there is a drive on campus by the education department to support reading for kids. They are looking for donations of new or gently used books. They are also looking for donations of non-perishable foods. These items will be handed out to children at the Lincoln elementary school. This school is has an overall lower economic status than other schools in the area. These food items and books will be handed out to children in gift bags at the end of the semester, so that they will have them over Christmas break. If you would like to donate bring books or food items to CSI’s education department, or to the preschool lab.
Care Package’s for deployed troops – CSI’s veteran club is looking for donations to send overseas to our deployed troops. Some suggested items: Magazines, games, homemade gifts, or disposable cameras. They are also looking for cards and letters to send to our troops. If you would like to donate, you can bring your donations to Shields 103 or Taylor 144.
Toys for Tots – CSI will have collection boxes on campus for this campaign. This will be starting the week after Thanksgiving. They are looking for new toys to be donated.
Upcoming Events for our club
Sponsoring a Family - We decided as a club to sponsor a family this Christmas. This means that we will be buying gifts and decorating a tree for a needy family. This family will be a family from the toddler lab. We decided that we will spend $200 on this project from our club money. $100 of it will be reimbursed. We will be meeting at the preschool lab this Sunday, the 20th at 10:00. If you would like to help shop for this family, you can meet us at the lab, or contact Jennifer or Aubrie.
Thanksgiving Dinner - On Thanksgiving Day, New Hope Church is sponsoring a thanksgiving dinner for those who cannot afford it. They are looking for volunteers to help serve meals throughout the day. Meals will be delivered at the church, or driven to families in their homes. Some of the members of our club will be there. If you would like to volunteer your time that day, contact Jennifer or Aubrie for more information.
Stockings for children - The Community Service club at CSI is asking other clubs to help out with their project. In this project the club is making stockings for children whose parents are in drug court. They will be reimbursing clubs up to $550 for the stockings. Our club has decided that we can help with this project. More information will sent out in a future e-mail.
Christmas party – We decided that we would like to have a Christmas party for the club (faculty members are invited). This party will be on Saturday, Dec. 10th. It will be at 11:30. There will be a potluck at the party, so bring your favorite recipe! You can bring your children to the party, as well. We will also be doing an ornament gift exchange under $5. Jasmine has come up with a game to play where we will be randomly trading ornaments with others, so you will leave the party with a different ornament than you brought in! During the party, many members agreed to play Bunco. Prizes will be offered for those who win the game!
Jennifer Ward conference - Jennifer Patterson wanted to thank everyone for coming to the conference and to those that helped take things down after the conference.
Attendance: Jennifer, Aubrie, Crystal, Tiffany, Becca, Danelle, Rachel, Jasmine, Jamie, Jodie, Maria, and Janet.
